Consumers given access to background information on homes prior to
purchase or sale
DETROIT - April 12, 2000 - Home Network Online, a leading innovator
in the for sale by owner (FSBO) real estate market, and Domania.com, a leading consumer
education site for homeowners, buyers and sellers, today announced a co-brand relationship
offering consumers accurate and broad real estate information free of charge.
Through Home Network Online, homeowners can list their residence for a one-time
fee until sold. This includes up to 12 photographs highlighting the amenities
and most interesting features of the home as well as a personalized yard sign
alerting buyers that information on the property is available via Home Network
Online.
Domania.com is an independent site featuring a suite of tools that
allow consumers to use comps (records of actual home sale prices), estimated home values
based on historic trends, and property tax estimates to manage their homes as investments
or to participate intelligently in any buying or selling transaction. "This
co-brand relationship with Domania.com gives consumers using Home Network Online
a variety of real estate pricing information to facilitate the home buying and
selling process," said Mike Brennan, executive vice president and co-founder Home
Network Online. "It will drive traffic to Home Network Online via web pages and
search engines, and lends the site credibility as Domania.com is an investment
of CMGI @Ventures."
Domania's flagship product, Home Price Check, is the largest, free
online collection of home sales data with more than 21 million records covering
approximately 75 percent of U.S. home sales, including 50 top metropolitan areas.
Via Domania.com, consumers can instantly find the purchase price, selling dates
and addresses of homes and condominiums. Consumers can search home sales records
by: viewing the sales of homes on a specific street over a range of addresses,
finding the previous sale price of a particular house, or comparing all homes
sold within a certain price range in one location. In addition to Home Price
Check, Domania.com will also provide a number of personalized tools for consumers
to assess home equity and monitor tax assessments free of charge. "Consumers are
constantly turning to sites such as Home Network Online to initiate home buying
and selling searches, making online real estate one of the fastest-growing market
sectors on the Internet," said Steven Kropper, president, Domania.com. "Domania.com
gives home buyers and sellers all the information needed to make smart real
estate decisions and this co-brand relationship strengthens that offering to
consumers."
