Homestore.com Inc. and domania.com Join Forces
Thousand Oaks, CA (October 13, 2000)- Reinforcing its ongoing
commitment to provide the ultimate online real estate experience for consumers
and to deliver the widest possible exposure for broker listings, Homestore.com,
Inc. (Nasdaq: HOMS), the Internet's leading home and real estate network, and
domania.com, a leading Internet research center for residential real estate,
today announced a multi-year alliance. domania.com will provide comparable home
sales information to the more than 1.4 million homes-for-sale listings on
Realtor.com®, the official Internet site of the National Association of
Realtors®.
The integration is significant, the companies said, because
it creates the strongest Internet destination providing two of the most important
online research points for consumers: real estate listings and comparable home
sales data. Adding comparable data to the suite of tools on Realtor.com®,
and thus delivering additional informed consumers to real estate professionals,
is part of Homestore.com's strategy to increase the quality of Realtor® leads.
Leads generated by the comparable data will be delivered at no cost to agents and
brokers. The new feature allows Realtor.com®, committed to keeping the
Realtor® in the center of the real estate transaction, to strengthen its
competitive position in the marketplace on behalf of the industry. The basic
comparable market data can be augmented by the in-depth Competitive Market Analysis
performed by real estate professionals.
"Home sales data has quickly escalated in consumer popularity,
and Homestore.com is committed to providing homeowners with some of the most valuable
home sales and home value information available today," said Steve Ozonian, president
of Realtor.com®. "Consumers will now be able to review property listings and then
access price history for a particular home, as well as recent sales in the neighborhood.
The data gives consumers another reason to stay longer looking at broker listings, and
should increase leads delivered to professionals."
"Homestore.com is an important part of domania.com's distribution of
market data that saves consumers' time and supports shorter buy-and-sell cycles for
real estate professionals," said Steven Kropper, chief executive officer of domania.com.
"Aligning with the Web's leader in the online real estate space also provides domania.com
an opportunity to further expand its brand to both consumers and professionals alike."
Both domania.com (http://www.domania.com) and Realtor.com®
(http://www.realtor.com) were recently named to the "Best of the Web: The Top Financial
